Well I will admit that it seems odd how once you get an item it seems to drop more often then it use to. After my first Kaiser + two runs after I got my second which took so long for my first one, now I don't know if it's true that it does but many people who I have talked with about it have seen that happen.

Getting an item more often after getting it the first time does seem to be the case. A friend of mine has been getting Valmanways pretty often after nabbing his first, and he's sick of them now. Which is ironic, because he was hunting for one for the longest time. XD

iirc That trend was actually absurdly common in SotN. After your first Criss or Ring of Varda, they just won't stop dropping. Or with Guardians, you could kill 100 of them and never see anything drop, but the second you get a God's Garb drop you're flooded with them.

From my personal experience, I believe luck signifigantly affects boss drops in solo runs, but not in co-op at all. I also believe from my own personal experience and incredible ease of getting rare boss drops, that you don't need to be wearing luck when defeating the boss. You only need to have it on when opening the chest. I got nearly all of somas rare drops in about 12 hours of play, and multiples of each except for the miser ring, which took me about 20 tries to get, I think.

From my experience, I actually found my first and only Claimh Solais while running ch.6 hard with luck gear. Also I got my sonic boots while playing as a luck-gear Charlotte. (However, still no luck with Miser rings)

I actually got my CS with no luck, does that mean it doesn't matter? No, I'm big into luck, but I was lucky in real life to get such a rare drop and was my first soma super weapon. It's not impossible to get things with out luck, and with luck you don't have a super good chance at getting rare drops. But thats just what I've experienced.

Just a stupid personal luck story to throw in: looking for a death scythe, i had soma decked out in full luck gear, 2x thief rings, ebisu, d.warrior, and all the other crap. what did i get 3 times in a row? death souls of course.

Luck does work, I've been using a Royal Crown, Ebisu raiment, 2x Thief rings and the past week of casual playing I got Fumas chest, Valmanway +1, Kaiser Knuckle +1, and other rare items. I would use death robe or lucky 7 but I need Ancient Armor on the hard bosses to make up for my slow reaction time.

From my understanding... luck does not affect any type of chest. People have stated that having higher luck gets rid of getting consumables from the boss chest, but I highly doubt it. Luck should only affect the drops from monsters and monster souls, as well as absorbing glyphs and spells. Ebisu Raiment and thief rings just increase the drop percentage of monsters by a certain amount.

I've never seen hard evidence for luck affecting chest drops. Lots of anecdotal evidence, but nothing empirical.
