I know this has been discussed (to death by some) but I'd like to hear it from some of the players here:
What sort of drops does luck affect?
Will equipping two Thief Rings and an Ebisu Raiment increase your chances of finding something? Or does their effect not stack?

From what I understand, the effect on Luck stat isn't clear, but Thief ring supposedly increase odds of rare drops (higher star rating items).

From my experience I'm a big believer in luck, I have the game since it came out and tried all the stuff like no luck or really low luck, all of it. But once I finally got my 2 thief and ebisu I got everything I needed. But you can have all of those and still not get anything because it's all a %, I feel like a broken record for this but I can't push this enough. You can still get rares without it but the fact of luck items is to eliminate the chance of getting crap. Also from the stats I've found the thief and ebisu may raise the luck stat but it won't show on the monster drop list because they only go toward rare drops, but from what my friends and I noticed is that items are tier and the sound could help determine. CS (2h holy sword) drops with a shing! sound where a val makes a lower noise. Now in list case a CS is a better drop then a val since it's higher on the tier list making a val harder to get.
From what is known 1 luck = 0.10% to drops But if you have ebisu which is 20 luck this = 2.00% to drops, but this is only to those are considered rare drops. Now from everything I've gathered rare drops normal rate is 0.50%, not very good chance of getting it, sure it'll go up with each luck point but that also increases it for everything else. That's where the thief and ebisu come in as they don't effect the crap items. But as said before going for a specific item can be trouble as there are multiple drops, the items might not be ultra rare and could just be rare which still makes it hard to get.
*sigh* to make it short it's there to help eliminate crap drops but it's not 100%.

What sort of drops does luck affect? Shanoa - glyph absorption Soma - non-boss souls Charlotte - spell absorption Item drops from killing enemies. As for Thief ring and Ebisu, they increase the percentage chance of an enemy's second drop. I remember reading a posting that it rose from .1% w/ one, then .2% w/ two, and then .25% w/ all three.

Oops I forgot the basic stuff thanks Novae. From my tests it seems that it could be a multiplication toward % increase. I thief got me a 3% increase and then a total of 7.25% with two toward the same items, but ended with a 16% for a item of the same starting 0.50% but rose higher cause it was a better rare drop then the other.

Very astute guys, thanks! I've been trying for Fuma's gear and the Retro set, but so far I've only gotten Fuma's greaves and started to wonder. The stuff is a pain to get you know? D: Thanks for easing my worried mind.

No problem, I too have just fuma greaves. A group suicide run is the best way to get them, personally my group uses luck gear, of 6 rounds we got 2 greaves, 1 armor, 2 helm from our group.

Just keep at it. I kept getting the armor and helm during my 4P runs, but the greaves took nearly an hour to drop for me iirc.

Well in chapter 11, each sub-boss chest has one piece of Fuma armor. Oxocutioner has greaves, Chimyriad's chest has armor, and Decapiclops has the helm. So this is where suicide runs come into play, Xbox users just run to all three chests (usually wearing full luck gear) then die or soft reset (when playing alone) after opening a sub-boss chest. Same thing can be done for PS3 users, but also with the added benefit of 4 player coop. Once you get a piece, then you just forget about that sub-boss chest and run to the other ones until you have them all. Making sure to suicide or fail so the game saves your loot. Also, "iirc" is just short-hand for "if I remember correctly" since I had gotten fuma's set on the 3rd day after the PSN release. Here is a thread that talks about Ch.11 Fuma pieces in the sub-boss chests.
