I'm curious, do you have any preference?
I usually switch to Japanese when I play with the Japanese peeps on my friends list (some of the voices don't exactly mean the same thing, so I can usually understand what they want better.)
I love Richter (probably in the top three of my favorites), but his english voice is brutal.

I actually kinda like Richter's English voice, I recognize it somehow...
Anyways, my preferences are as follows:
Soma - Japanese Shanoa - English Jonathan - English Yoko - Japanese Maria - I'm on the fence... Julius - English Richter - English Charlotte - English Alucard - English Simon/Fuma - wat

Castlevania wiki said it was David Vincent... Regular wikipedia doesn't mention his HD credit, but en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Vincent_(actor) says he did the Drac X Chronicles version. It doesn't sound like the same guy to me really. My friend and I were talking about how Julius sounds like a game show host last time we played. Definitely like his Japanese actor the best. I'd have to say: Soma: English ("CRA~P.") Alucard: English Shanoa: Japanese Jonathan: English ("Aww hell...") Charlote: Japanese Yoko: English (even though her sorry clip is the most disingenuous thing I've ever heard.) Julius: Japanese Richter: Japanese Maria: Sugary either way. Hymn sounds better in Japanese to me though. Simon/Fuma: Russian.

Only time I really go through the effort to change to Japanese is for the Puppet Master or Johnathan. Thaaannkkk youuuu! Sony! OooooKAY! Show tiiiiiimmmmeee!
I prefer Richter in Japanese in general though, but I like his Noo. It sounds so childish and sad, fun to use. xD "Come Hither!"~Astarte | "Nooo! *Cries*"~Richter Belmont
Alucard is good in english for me, especially against Dracula. "Come my son! Let us embrace!"~Drac, "No."~Alucard.
If I actually could change english/japanese permanantly. I may change more, but its mostly just not worth it to do it everytime IMO. xP

The first time I ever tried a japanese voice was the 248th kill of beezlbub and when he finally dropped the sonic boots. I know it had nothing to do with it but I do pick japanese voices more often now

I think most if not all the English voices are great, and for the longest time I didn't know there was a trick to having everyone speak Japanese until about a month ago lol. On that subject, cool to know that Norio Wakamoto (voice of Bison in a lot of the Street Fighter games) still does the voice of Dracula even long after he voiced Dracula in SotN. Sucks that Fuma & Simon do not have voices in CV: HD though lol

I changed my mind about Julius... Doing 10, a friend switched to Julius (and I'm Richter for 10 lately.) Anyway, he loves his triangle jumping, but in Japanese Julius sounds like he needs to add some fiber to his diet, or he's having a stroke.
All the same it made me crack up, so it's not all bad I guess!

Oh yeah, I'm right there with your friend. Any time I'm watching a Julius replay and I hear that terrible grunting I immediately stop.

I liked using Jap voices for my charlotte, then I fought Astarte...
