I know this topic is old, but if these guys leave, then will Castlevania be taken up by someone else who could potentially take Castlevania to it's original sprite-filled glory? Or is this more saying that after these two games Castlevania is dead?

Or is this more saying that after these two games Castlevania is dead? That's the problem, Mercury steam already created the reboot of the series. It would be hard for another game company to start up another Castlevania game and make a half decent story for it. All they need to do is just say "LoS never existed and we're part of the original timeline" or create another reboot if they feel it's necessary. The fans won't mind that much, but game developers don't really work like that. Personally I loved SotN and OoE (which storyline really only made since if you just considered it an alternate universe to the series), Even Soma's games were good....

I would very much so like for the next bunch to say "screw you" to LoS and go back to where they left off. I mean, isn't Julius supposed to be the one to defeat Dracula once and for all? I sure as hell don't see a game about that yet. But yeah, I would very much so like my Metroidvania back, or hell, even a retrovania-styled game would be effin' awesome.
If it was done correctly even a remake of an already made game would be pretty awesome. Maybe the first three games remade with 16 or 32 bit graphics? I dunno, but you get what I'm trying to get at. They definitely have options. Options in which case I hope they will use and do it well.

Also I liked the art in the original titles. I don't like the art style for the new ones. I really loved the dark/gothic depressing art style for the characters and scenery. I don't hate the new art styles, I just don't like them as much.

IDK. I got really eager for LoS2 when I saw what appeared to be Alucard all dressed up in HD and ready for some ass whooping. IMO it would be phenomenal if they had Alucard as a playable character and he played at least as well as he did in SotN or better. I would definitely spend the money getting it if that were the case. If not, well then I would just wait for it to come out and for the reviews to start pouring in before I decide to try it.
