See who can survive the longest against the Puppet Master errrr puppet switching thingy attack.
I can see it now, everyone dodging his attack, then everyone spams "good work!" well I guess people would spam good work either way...

So no one attacks puppet master? Just chase him, kill sack dolls, and not get teleported into the spikey coffins? I like! Only issue I can see: how does game decide who is chosen when sack doll is dropped into coffin?

You could make the game Hard Mode by actually dodging the puppet attack by invincibility frames. Moves such as Alucard's mist form and Richter's back flip dodge the attack outright if timed correctly.
Funny idea though.

Yes! That is what I meant, dodging the puppet attack.
As you said redfoxxie, Alucard can use mist form.
Maria can use Guardian Knuckles.
Some can use puppet master? Will that work?
Belmonts (plus Jonathan) can use martial arts.
The rest, I dont think they can....well maybe if they run into the fire, (to the right of the boss)not sure if that will work though.
