Hi, I have seen that Luck is a huge topic of debate here. I would like to share my experiences as I am relatively new (less than 2 weeks) and have gotten every rare i could get as soma, except for the rares in chapters 9-11 hard, as I haven't played them very much. First of all, I would like to say that my luck in solo play has largely been much better, and rares have appeared more frequently than in online co-op play. This is regardless of what kind of luck I have. In co-op, even when every person playing has 40+ luck, I have not gotten rares with much frequency at all, no matter who gets the last hit, OR how much luck anyone has. In solo, my luck has been average, except for when I am running 40+ luck when I open the boss chest. When I have extra high luck when opening a boss chest, whether I was wearing LCK gear when landing the last blow or not, I almost always get a nice rare item. The levels in particular that I have tested and experienced this are ch.7, and ch.5...In chapter 5, when running 40+ luck, i get a Deaths Robe, Scythe, or Souls nearly every single time. Before I started experimenting with LCK gear I never got any of these drops ever. Ever since I started running LCK on that level, I get them just about every time, no matter what. On chapter 7, it is pretty much the same story, but Soma and Alucard have such a large item pool in that level, that I think luck is somewhat less important. I did, however notice, that when I switch to LCK gear after beating Astarte, I get Valmanways and Wing Boots most of the time. Doesn't seem to help with misers, due to the incredibly large item pool probably, but the other rares drop at a signifigantly high rate, most notably wing boots, valmanways, and nebulas. In my first hour of this experiment, I recieved 7 valmanways from the boss chest. Someone gave me a very interesting theory, that based on my tests I must agree with. His theory was that every time you open a chest, it picks a number representing an item from a RGN (random number generator). Based on this theory, it basically means that running high LCK when opening a chest gives you much higher odds of a rare number popping up in the RGN when you open the chest. This seems to be the likely explanation of why I have done so well in regards to getting rare items. I might add that most of my rares I got on days 6,7, and 8 of owning this game, after I started suspecting luck has a signifigant effect in solo runs. My experience in co-op, however, has lead me to believe that luck is either broken in online co-op, or it has a drastically less signifigant affect. One theory I have is that it takes the AVERAGE of all players luck into account...however, I have tried with most or all of us running high luck, and I noticed nothing signifigant at all. I think in co-op, the effect is completely random. In both modes, monster drops and souls are very common with high luck. As far as boss drops go, i suspect luck only works on solo runs...but based on my experience it definitely has a profound effect. I will add that I play on PS3, in case it is signifigant in nature to the results of my experiments. Peace
