For a while, I was under the impression that Simon's whip attack is stronger than Richter's, because he apparently has a stronger Vampire Killer. If you take a look at the item compendium, Simon's Vampire Killer has a noticeably higher ATK.
Well, I just equipped Simon and Richter with the same exact things, and they're both fully maxed out. Richter's whip does more damage than Simon's. In fact, Richter's whip attack and his uppercut attack are the strongest of all of the whippers.
Just a small tidbit of information I thought I'd share.

Yep! I think it's Richter>Simon>Julius>Jonathan in order of raw whip strength (maxed anyway). Does Simons start higher at least? I know it's a +10 as opposed to +3 in the compendium...weird.

From what I can tell yes he is the strongest starting out but falls behind Richter after max.

Well Simon has 5 subs vs 6 subs for Richter, that may be the reason why it catches up and overpasses it.

Ahh RR, maybe but one could think the +10 standard attack for simons whip would have the advantage.

I've noticed that Richter sometimes gets two attack power per level up of his sub weapons. I haven't touched Simon yet but maybe Simon's ratio of +2ATK per level vs. +1ATK per level is higher, but since he has less sub weapons to level, he still falls slightly short?

I though it was because Simon didn't have as many subs for a minute, but then theoretically, Jonathan would be FAR stronger than all the whip users wouldn't he? It has to be a growth thing.

Simon and Julius share the same atk value (68) when maxed. However, Richter still holds the title though with 69 atk. Maybe if Simon did get RR (he did use diamond in CVII), he would have matched or surpassed Richter.
