Sooo... I've never owned or beaten a Resident Evil game.
Yeah, that's right, I said it.
I had played demos of RE1 and RE2 before, but that's the extent of my experience with the series. Now, as mentioned elsewhere, I'm going through RE1 for the first time. Pretty awesome so far, but I'm wasting cliploads of bullets like a truenoob.
Fans of the series -- which games should I be looking to pick up next? To this outsider, it seems like 2 and 4 are the most popular.

I briefly played 1 and 2 and hated them... I think I'm in the minority though.

Resident Evil 2 for your next one; and when you do play as Claire first and the play as Leon for the 2nd Scenario as it's the most 'canon' one.

2, 3, and Outbreak 1 and 2 for the full Raccoon City experience. You don't have to play 4, it offers nothing to the storyline. Like, at all. >_> And I find it generally boring, but that's just me. Zem and I are the biggest Resident Evil nerds you'll probably find on this board.

4 doesn't have a direct link to the story, and 5 only kinda does.
but 4 was really fun. 5 wasn't bad, and the multiplayer feature was kinda cool, but i wasn't a huge fan of the game. it got boring fast.

2, 3, and Outbreak 1 and 2 for the full Raccoon City experience. That's a lie! You have to play Umbrella Chronicles as well for Death's Door and The Fourth Survivor (The better updated version).

I always thought 2 was really boring. And I never really got into 4. But I loved Code Veronica, 1, 3, and 0. 5 was ok, but the best part was probably laughing at Chris being able to punch massive boulders and just Wesker's voice in general.

CHRIIIIIIS.
How can you find 2 boring but like Code Veronica? Code Veronica had the worst gameplay of all of them, just an interesting story.

Well, now I have a gameplay problem. My keyboard has a short in it (thanks cats), so I can't hold R1 while aiming left or up (right or down still work). So, I'm unable to rotate to the left, or aim for the head. How bad is this going to screw me over?
I'll probably end up getting a gamepad for the PC.
