So be it. I noticed that he was on PS3 instead of Xbox. It is very possible that he included the results from his "guests" in his results. He may have done that just to get a better handle on the luck argument. I will admit, it planted a seed of doubt in my mind, but it still looks far too good to be true. I still want to hear Stormulus's take on this.
Edit: Now that I've examined the videos closely, I'm sure of it. He used multiple controllers and recorded the results. My other theory is that it gives the loot to the main player. That's why he has it all.
I play the PS3 version and I can confirm this. On local coop each player shares all items with one account. You therefore receive four items when playing with friends.
I also agree with everything you have said. People love their theories to this day about what effects the boss chest. They don't understand that games are simply not perfect, and most of the time the devs have no idea what they have created.
Citing your "experience" means nothing. You need to have evidence to support your claims, especially when we are dealing with randoms in a game, which tend to be terribly flawed anyway.
Konami's most recent reply to this question about luck stated that it is completely random based on your character. Google harder and you will come across this. Check the dates of all of Konami's replies. This is the latest we have heard. Now that I hear a player did an edit of the game and tested it, this further proves that luck does nothing for boss chests.
I seriously cannot believe the things people tell me.. Just today this player was raving about the time of day affected the chests and how "his friend" got this and that.
It's random, anything can happen.
For those who might take this offensively or who will argue back, I dare you to answer this question. Do you and can you expect anyone to believe you? why is that? In other words, would you believe what you are saying if it came out of someone else's mouth?
In gaming and as sure as hell in life you cannot "believe" things, and expect people to agree. You need to "think" things and show real evidence supported by facts. If you "believe" something nobody needs to or wants to hear about it.
