I spent hours doing test runs on different levels of luck and different effects of luck and filled pages of data on it. It's all % and the best I've managed to find on rare items is like 20%, that still really low and one may never get any of those items on a 20% chance. But over all it's better then the initial 5% (test showed me this is the most likely % it may actually vary between items). And Johnny you are perfectly right, a slightly better chance is better then nothing and it can make a world of difference if you really are "lucky".

Stormulus did a hex edit of the game and he did various tests with 0 luck, negative luck, and tests with Thief rings in every equipment slot. There were no major changes in drop rates for rares from boss chests, however, ALL OTHER chests and ENEMIES dropped rares MUCH more often. From such evidence, it can be said that boss chest drops are truly unaffected by luck, and are truly up to chance. That is the reason people get weird readings all the time from these "tests" they do.
Coming from my experience, I can confirm this, I always seem to get my rares when I'm running a combat build, almost never when I am wearing a luck build.
If you are still against me, why don't you ask Rommy yourself?

I really wish Konami would just explain it lol. It's not that I don't believe you but why would the description of the items(thief and ebisu) specifically mention rare items (and 5 star are as rare as they get right?). It could be sloppy programming or something... Sorry for beating a dead horse lol.

Well I believe it to not work in single player but more for multiplayer. I've seen little improvement in what i get in single but when I play multiplayer I get items that I had only dreamed of getting. It is a more multiplayer focused game so it possible, I believe what I've seen with my own eyes and the people who I've played with so saw the huge difference. It's not about "what I get" the luck is based on "who gets what" as a team you can collect rares almost every drop. Thats what important, it'll be your turn eventually to get something as long as you see them drop.

On that logic, you would get rares near instantaneously if you played with 2 people. That is not the case.

But with a full party you can. The more you have the better and more drops your Group gets, not you yourself. I have a friend that have videos show this works and I have experienced it myself. Two people barely makes a difference, nor does one character, it's a full party system and that's how it works.

That is illogical, because you're saying that the CHANCE of getting rare items for you increases as a group of more people. When in reality, the game is rolling 6 drops. Naturally, you have a higher chance of SEEING rares in multiplayer. However, it is illogical to think that the chances of the rares being GIVEN to specific people increase just because you see them more often.
The explanation for the phenomena you are describing is simply the fact that you play more multiplayer than singleplayer. It is a well-known fact that when you play with friends or acquaintances that you get more enjoyment. That enjoyment leads to playing the game longer. That leads to more runs, and that leads to more drops, which leads to more rares.
I would like to see the proof of your theory. If you were to ask Renuarb or Stormulus, two all-stars, they would back me up on mine.

I respect your opinions and for the whole year I played the game believe all of you and seeing everyone else get rare items while I had to be skilled enough to kill the boss because I was always the last one left. But after playing with someone and following his instructions myself and many others ended up getting items I've only dreamed of in less then 100 runs. That a whole year of nothing compared to less then a month. I'm just saying to have a little faith in it, and yes i have said many times that it doesn't guarantee rare drops it help increase that chance of getting them and it better for moral to see rares dropping everytime. It's called a 20% better chance and enjoyment at the same time, how can that be so bad or wrong. www.youtube.com/user/NytegardI've played with this guy and he knows what he is talking about and you can see all the nice stuff his group gets. But I get the feeling you think I'm saying like it a 100% sure thing, it's not, 20% is horrid for a drop, but it's better then a 0.5%. But I'll let you say your side after this and we will just drop it, I hate how much of a touchy subject this is.

So be it. I noticed that he was on PS3 instead of Xbox. It is very possible that he included the results from his "guests" in his results. He may have done that just to get a better handle on the luck argument. I will admit, it planted a seed of doubt in my mind, but it still looks far too good to be true. I still want to hear Stormulus's take on this.
Edit: Now that I've examined the videos closely, I'm sure of it. He used multiple controllers and recorded the results. My other theory is that it gives the loot to the main player. That's why he has it all.
