I stopped believing in the luck method sometime back in early december I believe... and that was after I got my two miser rings. After that I got three more (technically stole but COUGH don't remind Crippler) and I wasn't wearing any sort of luck gear at the time.
Hell, I got my thief rings last on the rare item list. What does that tell you?

It's entirely plausible that the Gambler's Glasses are coded simply in a way that does not properly account for how boss drops work. In other words, they're showing a percentage calculated with certain assumptions, rather than an actual percentage - and those assumptions may be invalid for bosses.
I would be curious, though, to hear from someone who's actually done some spreadsheet testing or a source code review.

If only I could remember who had done the tests though. It may be the same person who conducted the Luck test with Thief Rings hacked into every equipment slot. Again.... you'd have to find and ask Rommulous.
