merchandise contests?

what would you guys say to donating a couple bucks and having contests to win merchandise?

get enough people to throw down a few bucks.
We could, for example, have a drawing
and if you donate money, towards the product you get more "tickets" entered in the drawing.

I havent decided on it yet, it's just an idea that might make this place more fun.

Unfortunately, I'm a cheapass and wouldn't participate. The idea could be fun... provided there were enough people not like me.

ah that's another thing i should mention. I'd only do it if enough people participate.

Obviously i don't benifit from this because there's no way i can win without people thinking i cheated
so as much as i want that Shanoa bag...i'll have to buy it on my own ;~;
but if this sounds like something you guys are interested in, my current idea is...depending on the item (i could run a poll and let you guys choose 1 of 3 items for example)

then based off the amount of the item, we could, for example, keep the competition running until all of it is paid off. every 2 dollars you donate towards the competition is worth 1 ticket.
each ticket obviously raises your chances to win. But that doesnt mean someone with 1 ticket won't win either. (i'd be using random number generator to generate your random number per ticket...then after all the money is submitted i'd use the same random number generator, and whoevers number it's closest to wins)

so lets say we choose that bag.
and the price of the bag (including shipping) is 30$ flat
then we would need 15 people to donate 2$ (every 2$ is worth 1 ticket so to speak, in other words, one person can donate more than once and get as many tickets as they want...) Sorry i don't make enough to be going out and buying stuff for you guys ;o Xbox isn't a very high paying job Not low paying either, but just enough for me to get by on currently.
wherearea's if we went with that 10$ castlevania book (which im tempted to buy for myself right now...) we could have 1 ticket cost 1$

Also we can branch out and do non-castlevania stuff too...the steam store has some pretty badass stuff <3

If there is any distrust, i suppose i could always record a video of each random number generator, or even use some program that lets you guys watch me use said generator Live on my computer. But we'd have to find a time where it doesn't cut into my job, obviously.

These are just idea's im throwing out there, if anyone has better idea's they're more than welcome to speak up. Or if you're interested in the idea, just let me know.

I'd like to do something more interesting with the site, and this is just one idea i've come up with. Please if you have any other suggestions, i'd like to hear them, no matter how stupid you may think it is.
