I wish I could tell you. I'm like you... except I haven't gotten it to actually work. :/ It seems like you have to be VERY accurate with the puppet throw.

I've been doing it pretty reliably myself. I'm just that prosauce.
edit: Got it first try and entered the Count's room at 29:30. Seriously, it's easier to do than the elevator glitch as a non-Soma.

I managed to pull it off, once, in a six man room. Didn't even notice I did it until I saw myself rising. Ren do you use Puppet Master to trigger it or just do the analog stick jump? I need your prosauce to show me how to do it reliably.

I've been doing it as Shanoa and Jonathan. :3 Even more impressive! Guess I just need loads more practice. I only managed to pull it off with the analog so I'll be working more on that.

It's not that hard to do. Just like the Sonic Strike Acceleration glitch; It's all about the position. It is far easier to pull off than the elevator glitch as a non-Soma.
If you see me online, just shoot me a game invite and I'll see if I can get you to do it yourself. It just takes practice.

This shortcut only works reliably in a multiplayer game, correct? Also, you need help from someone to get up the wall with Shanoa/Jon right?

Only in multiplayer will you slide up into the Count's Room. Otherwise you just kinda fall backwards and land. Still, you can practice in single player.
And yes, you need help to get up there. A Yorick from Soma, or anyone tall enough to jump kick off of will do.

Only in multiplayer will you slide up into the Count's Room. This is also possible in a Singleplayer game. I have seen a video on youtube were a japanese player do this in singleplayer mode.
